League Policies
Official franchise, competition, and operating policies.
Franchise and Division Structure
Each franchise operates as one geographic Division with one team. Seven Cities Series represents the DMV Division: all of Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. IA roster: 12; Junior roster: 8; AI roster: 12.
Ownership and Leadership
Franchise Owner and Team Owner are the same role. The Owner may also serve as General Manager or appoint a separate GM with delegated access. Game Administrators operate games; Team Coaches develop and prepare Players. Team Operators and their license fees, annual fees, and royalties are removed.
Draft
The Independent Artist Draft has three rounds of four picks: Round 1 picks 1–4, Round 2 picks 5–8, Round 3 picks 9–12. All picks join the single franchise roster. AI Artists are not eligible for this Draft. The AI Division conducts its own separate draft under a dedicated MPSL-approved process, distinct from the Independent Artist Draft.
Competitive Playlist and APRS
Three online regular-season games. Each verified fan may make one paid top-song selection per day, Wednesday–Saturday. Pool all valid selections across four days. Average Public Rating Score (APRS) = song selections / all valid selections × 10. On Sunday judges award Delivery, Song Quality, and Radio Readiness, up to 10 each. Final score = APRS + judge points, maximum 40.
Seeded Postseason
Top eight IA Players qualify by accumulated regular-season game scores. Fixed quarterfinal bracket: 1 vs 8 and 4 vs 5 on one side; 2 vs 7 and 3 vs 6 on the other. No reseeding. Divisional champions advance to seeded national SvS Playoffs. Final two contest a best-of-three SUPER MIC Championship; first to two wins is champion.
Live and AI Scoring
Live IA postseason adds Stage Presence, worth up to 10 points, for a maximum of 40 judge points plus 10 APRS. AI playoffs are entirely online and have no Stage Presence; maximum score remains 40. Judges and Officials are independent of competing franchises.
Songs, Withdrawals and Forfeits
One song per Player per game. A song used previously that season cannot be repeated, including playoffs and each SUPER MIC game. Withdrawals and forfeits may incur a penalty fee at the Commissioner’s discretion.
Compensation and Revenue
Player compensation is $50 per game; Franchise Owners may elect this program in their first year. The 40% national revenue pool is shared equally among participating franchise teams, up to 16. Fan revenue sharing is removed; paid selections remain. Requirements after the first year remain to be established.
Trades and Residential Waivers
Inter-Division trades are permitted. Out-of-territory Players need a written Residential Waiver with Player and receiving Owner consent and MPSL approval before the trade is effective. Waiver lasts one season, requires renewal, does not require relocation, and does not expand territory.
Residential Waiver Travel
Receiving franchise covers necessary round-trip transportation, overnight lodging, and local transportation for qualified waiver Players attending live Divisional Playoffs. Agree booking/reimbursement procedures, deadlines, and limits in advance. Personal upgrades and optional companions are excluded unless agreed. Changes require written consent and MPSL approval; waivers cannot be revoked solely to avoid travel costs. Junior arrangements require guardian consent and necessary adult accompaniment. National postseason travel is governed separately.
Rules Still to Be Established
Tiebreakers, national seeding and byes, live fan-voting windows, national travel funding, compensation after year one, Junior age-class allocation, and Junior/AI playoff qualification.
