Terms of Use
Effective Date: 2026-08-27 Last Updated: 2026-08-27
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Music-Performance Sports ("MPS") platform, including the Song vs Song Sports League ("SvS") application, operated by Music-Performance Sports League, LLC ("MPSL," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By registering, logging in, or otherwise using the platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the platform.
2. The MPS Platform
MPS is a sports-league platform that transforms music discovery and performance into a competitive sports experience. The platform hosts competition content, scoring, rankings, standings, and related services.
3. Song vs Song Sports League
SvS is the flagship league of MPS, in which artists compete in divisional games featuring original songs. Outcomes are determined through public scoring and official judge scoring under the MPS scoring system, affecting player power rankings, standings, and postseason positioning.
4. Account Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age to create a standard account. You must provide accurate, current information and keep it updated. You may not create an account on behalf of another person without authorization.
5. Account Security
You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify MPSL promptly of any unauthorized access or security breach. MPSL is not liable for losses from compromised credentials you fail to protect.
6. User Roles
The platform supports roles including fans, players (MPS-Athletes), judges, and administrators (Game Administrators, General Managers, and the Commissioner). Your role determines the features available to you. You may not attempt to access features or data outside your authorized role.
7. MPS-Athletes
MPS-Athletes are users designated to compete in official SvS competition. Official MPS-Athlete status is conferred only through authorized league processes and is not granted through Scrimmage participation.
8. Official Competition
Official competition includes regular-season games, divisional playoffs, national playoffs, and the SUPER MIC championship. Official matches affect ranking points, standings, team records, playoff eligibility, divisional championship eligibility, and SUPER MIC eligibility.
9. Scrimmage Competition
Authorized Game Administrators may create Scrimmage Seasons, Scrimmage Games, and Scrimmage Matches, and may add eligible app users as Scrimmage participants. Scrimmage participation does not automatically: create official roster membership; create official MPS-Athlete status; generate official ranking points; affect official standings; affect official team records; create playoff eligibility; create Divisional Championship eligibility; or create SUPER MIC eligibility. Scrimmages are non-official competition unless MPSL explicitly designates otherwise.
10. Music Submissions
Players may submit music for competition through approved methods: MP3 upload, Spotify integration/link, or Apple Music integration/link. By submitting music, you represent and warrant that you possess all necessary rights, licenses, permissions, and authority to submit the music for use in the platform.
11. MP3 Uploads
Uploaded MP3 files must comply with applicable content standards and rights requirements. MPSL may reject, remove, or require replacement of any uploaded content.
12. Spotify-Linked Songs
When linking Spotify content, you comply with Spotify's applicable terms. Spotify integration is provided as a convenience and does not transfer ownership of any underlying music to MPSL.
13. Apple Music-Linked Songs
When linking Apple Music content, you comply with Apple's applicable terms. Apple Music integration does not transfer ownership of any underlying music to MPSL.
14. Clean / Radio-Edit Requirement
Competing songs must be clean/radio-edit versions. MPSL may reject, remove, or require replacement of content that does not satisfy applicable competition standards.
15. User-Generated Content
You retain ownership of content you create and submit. Submitting music or other content grants MPSL a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, host, display, reproduce, and distribute that content as reasonably necessary to host competition content, present games, conduct scoring, display results, promote the applicable competition, and maintain competition records. This license terminates when the content is removed from the platform, except where retained for historical competition records.
16. Public Scoring
Public scoring allows fans to participate in determining match outcomes under the MPS scoring system. Public scores are subject to integrity rules and may be invalidated where fraudulent or manipulative activity is detected.
17. Judge Scoring
Official judges score competing songs across designated categories. Judge scores are governed by league rules and assignment protocols. Judge scoring is separate from public scoring.
18. Competition Integrity
You may not engage in bots, automated voting or scoring, fake accounts, vote manipulation, coordinated fraudulent scoring, unauthorized score modification, judge impersonation, tampering with competition data, circumventing voting restrictions, or interfering with other user accounts. MPSL retains authority to investigate suspicious activity and invalidate fraudulent scores, ratings, votes, or competition activity.
19. Judges and Officials
Judges and officials are bound by league rules and conflict-of-interest standards. Misconduct may result in disqualification of scores and disciplinary action.
20. Game Administrators
Game Administrators manage official regular-season games within their authorized scope and may create and manage Scrimmages. They may not edit league-wide legal documents.
21. General Managers
General Managers oversee franchise/division operations within their scope. They may view applicable legal policies but do not automatically receive authority to modify league-wide legal documents.
22. Commissioner Authority
The Commissioner exercises league-wide governance authority, including discipline, eligibility, and result oversight, subject to MPSL policy.
23. Intellectual Property
MPSL intellectual property, including league branding, marks, scoring systems, and platform software, is owned by MPSL. User-owned music remains the property of its rights holders.
24. User-Owned Music
Submitting music does not transfer ownership of the underlying song to MPSL. Your submissions are licensed to MPSL only to the limited extent described in these Terms.
25. MPSL Intellectual Property
League names, marks, logos, championship branding, and related assets are protected intellectual property of MPSL. See the Trademark Notice & Brand Use Policy for details.
26. Third-Party Services
The platform integrates third-party services, including Spotify and Apple Music. These services are governed by their own terms and privacy practices. MPSL is not responsible for third-party service behavior.
27. Fees
Certain features may require fees, including registration fees, submission fees, and late submission fees. Fees are disclosed before payment.
28. Registration Fees
Where applicable, registration fees are charged for participation in official competition and are non-refundable except as required by law or stated otherwise.
29. Submission Fees
Submission fees may apply to music submissions and are disclosed before payment.
30. Late Submission Fees
Late song submissions may incur late submission fees as configured by the league. Payment records are maintained for accounting and dispute purposes.
31. Refund Policies
Refund eligibility is determined by the applicable fee type and governing policy. Contact MPSL regarding refund requests.
32. Prizes and Awards
Prizes, awards, and championship designations are subject to competition eligibility rules and MPSL verification. MPSL may withhold or revoke awards where eligibility or integrity violations are found.
33. Competition Eligibility
Eligibility for official competition is determined by league rules. Scrimmage participation does not confer official eligibility.
34. Suspension
MPSL may suspend accounts or competition participation for violations of these Terms or league rules.
35. Account Termination
MPSL may terminate accounts for serious or repeated violations. You may request account deletion through the Legal & Privacy section.
36. Service Availability
The platform is provided on an "as available" basis. MPSL does not guarantee uninterrupted access.
37. Competition Cancellations or Postponements
MPSL may cancel or postpone competitions or matches. Official competition records are preserved where required to maintain league integrity.
38. Disclaimer of Warranties
The platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law.
39. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, MPSL is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.
40. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold MPSL harmless from claims arising from your content, conduct, or breach of these Terms.
41. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the applicable jurisdiction, or, where not yet configured, the applicable jurisdiction of MPSL's principal place of business.
42. Changes to Terms
MPSL may update these Terms. Material updates requiring renewed acceptance will prompt affected users to re-accept after login. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance where re-acceptance is not required.
43. Contact
Questions regarding these Terms may be directed to MPSL through the contact information provided in the Legal & Privacy section.
